Videos
Videos are huge in today's technology driven world. You can find a how to video on pretty much anything in YouTube. Below you will see a few different types of videos that can be a really useful tool while educating.
This fun video about how I made my coffee table was filmed using my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.0 to film and take photos, and then was edited using Windows Movie Maker. While it is pretty rough, it really shows how easy it is for someone with no film editing experience to really put something together that is fun to watch and informative.
This video was made using a free online program called Xtranormal, which you can find here. It's pretty fun, because you can either type in the dialogue and use the funny robot voice options (the weird pauses were caused by this feature), or you can record your own voice and put it on a character. You can also have more than one person in the final product, so it could be used to make "skits" to watch away from the classroom.
Screencasts are a really important part of digital media today. A screencast essentially records your computer screen, mouse movements, and your voice. This enables you to make a video on how to do something on the computer, which has huge potential. I used Screencast-o-matic to make this movie. It's a really simple, but very powerful program. I think could be very helpful for an agency who needs to train computer users, and anyone else who is learning how to use a computer program, or just how to navigate a website.
